Anywhere But Home

Last month, I quit my comfy office job of seven years back in Orange County, California so that I could travel the world full time. I will be supporting myself by playing poker and gambling on sports. And though I haven't written anything much longer than an email since I left college, I will be attempting to chronicle my experience on this blog.

I'm bringing with me little more than a duffelbag of clothes and my laptop. The only plans I have booked are my one way ticket to Hong Kong and a few days worth of hotel reservations.

Beyond that, I have a variety of personal goals I would like to accomplish over the next few years. These include but are not limited to:
  • Enrolling in a Mandarin language school in China
  • Gaining an appreciation for soccer in time for this summer's World Cup (ie trying to understand how people overseas watch it without succumbing to intense boredom)
  • Experimenting with different multi-phasic sleep schedules
  • Making a televised international poker tournament final table (beyond getting knocked out by a pseudo-celebrity at the WSOP)
  • Starting my own small business overseas
  • Becoming a millionaire
  • Maintaining a blog
  • And, of course, seeing as much of the world as possible
Let's hope I'm not broke and living out of my car by the end of the year.
